winter draft 2

Artist statement-

Approach- The way i approached this project was to first figure out the artist I was going to mask. I then found the artist and their style. The artist I choose was Uta Barth, one type of photography she does is blur photography. She basically makes it so the image is out of focus. This style looks really interesting and I have 12 images to show what her work looks like.

Vibe- The vibe or style of these photos is very unique and bring out a sense of unknowingness and mystery in the photo. One can makeup what the image is portraying and some images are blurrier than others.

technique- The technique I used was when I saw something a wanted to take a photo of I would then make it so the focus was unfocussed. The result of these images is really great and I feel good about my results.

Winter 1

Artist statement -

Goals - The goals of this assignment was to capture the essence of Uta Barth photography. The goal was to get blurry images that had a kind of context to them that encapsulated Uta Barth's style. The goal was also to get 10 images that followed Uta Barths style of photography.

Approach - The approach I took was to focus the camera in a certain way that made it so the image would come out looking blurry. I would also have to stand at a certain distance to get the perfect blur for the photo.

Vibe - The vibe that one can get from these photos is mysterious because with some of these, it is hard to tell what the image actually is such as the first image shown here.

Slo Mo 2 by Eli

Artist Statement -

Affects of low/fast shutter speed and camera movement - During this project I took over 100 photos and experimented with many techniques. I learned that with a fast shutter speed, less light will be absorbed and less movement will be too. I slow shutter speed is what I used for many of these photos. I didn't always shake the camera because we would have someone standing with a light painting the air. But for some light that wasn't moving I would shake my camera in a pattern. I would also just experiment certain motions and see what they looked like.

Light painting - I used a fairly low shutter speed for this to capture a lot of light. I usually put it on 8" or 10"(this means seconds). This allowed for me to capture light which made shaped and cool designs in the air.

Abstraction - In many of these photos there is a clear abstraction where one cannot tell what the thing they are looking at is. There was no goal or achievement for obtaining a certain shape or type of look but just how light can interact with the camera.

Process/steps - I took the steps of preparing my camera for each photo. I did this by turning up the shutter speed or lowering it and then fiddling with the exposure. Once I got it right I was ready to take the shot and hope for the best and usually expect the worst.

three techniques - The three techniques I used was panning which was when someone would paint a light picture using a subject, and light painting which is where someone paints a picture with light or in other words, moves the camera in a way that captures the light that makes an array of light. The last one is blurred motion.
