Artist Statement - The way I approached all these photos was to find a common balance among them. I also tried to find a theme and use it in the photos. One can note that the fourth photo evokes a feeling of maybe, looking into the future and may evoke the theme of hope. In the third photo I tried to create the theme of time passing by. The way I made these compositions was to pick two or three photos thinking about their cohesiveness at the same time. I then used the sepid style in pic monkey to make a timeless feel to the photo. I then used a framing method to make the image look old in a way, I didn't do this with all of them. In the last photo, because all the photos are from the streets and outside this made a cohesive composition. The feeling I was trying to evoke from that was simplicity and living ones life their way. The first photo encapsulates a view on life in a focused way. With the first photo I was also trying to solve the idea of meaninglessness towards the world and that everything has a purpose.

Draft 4 fall photography
Artist statement - In this composition I had my models gaze into the distance as to be thinking about something. I tilted my camera so I could get a large portion of the image be the sky. The point of this was to have the face taking up the sky so it wouldn't get covered up by buildings. This makes it easier to see. Like my last draft I made it so this one had a lighter feel to it. The recipe has been the same the whole time. Yet I don't have the technology to make jasper James level work. I still try my best.
Draft fall 3 Photography
artist statement - In this composition I further added on to my comps of Jasper's style. This time I tried to have all the models look into the distance in front of a cloudy background. This gave the composition a mysterious feel to it and a glum one too. The way I put this together or the recipe was to take a portrait and place it over a background image. Then once I did this, I erased the background on the portrait image to make a clean looking image. I then Faded the image to blend the two together. I also worked on letting there be a lot of sky in the background so the face of the models wouldn't be hard to see over the city background. The mood of this piece is laid back and relaxed and this can also be seen in the my classmates faces, especially Jackson's.

Draft 2 Jasper James double exposure
Artist statement:
Goals - The goals of this assignment was to capture a state of emotion, portrait and background in this composition. I tried to blend the background with the portrait so the portrait would be in the sky mostly the face. Another goal was to come close to the level of perfection that Jasper James double exposure has while using just a compact camera. I also tried my best to use the eraser application in picmonkey to take away as much of the background in the portrait as possible.
Tone/vibe - The tone of these photos is filled with one emotion. Some can be seen as a subtle happiness to pure confidence. I tried to keep a vibe of hope and someone fading into the future and looking to the future or the viewer of the photo.
Recipe - The recipe of all these photos is two images blended together. One image is a background of the city including the sky which is where I place the portrait. This go around I tried to take pictures of only the face, some include a little bit of the chest. I then enlarged the portrait to fit in the sky and blended them together. On the background I took up the brightness, lowered the darkness and took up the contrast.

Draft 1 Jasper James double exposure w5
Artist statement - The composition I have here is a style based off the photographer Jasper James. This composition technique is called multiple exposure. This is when two or more images are blended/faded together to make one whole image. What I did here is that I took a photo of someone and blended it with a SF background image. I manifested jasper James's technique and feel of modern, life, perspective and voice to create this composition. I tried to place my classmates faces and teacher in the sky so that they could be seen easier. Most people are looking outwards or at the person looking at the image. What I tried to do was blend the model into the background, this was difficult because I did not have the best technology. In some photos the sky is above the models face which makes it hard to see so I had to move there body up to the sky. This happened in the photo where the kid in the red shirt looks like he is on top of the building. I struggled with this a little because not all the photos had a low sky line. Overall, I think it worked out in the end and I used the skills of Jasper James to make this composition. Many things can be analyzed from these photos and a lot can be said.

composition 3 asymmetry symmetry balance
artist statement - The three compositions worked on here consist of asymmetry, symmetry and balance. Asymmetry is when there are two subjects of different weight in the image and shape or just one subject over to the side. Symmetry is when the image has two of the same objects on either side of the same wight. This looks like the two speaker image. Balance which is the last composition means that there are two sides of the photo, doesn't matter what variation, shape or weight in real life but just weight in the photo. Both subjects in the image must have the same weight.

avedon portraits
Portrait avedon -
This composition focuses on the physical state of the person. This style is called avedon. My model named laurel is the person in these portraits. The goal of this assignment is to make the portrait simple but filled with perspective and presence. The composition makes the person looking at the photo see the person in the portrait as simple but complex at the same time. I, as the photographer, try to capture pure emotion. I took many photos to bore my model and get photos when the model is truly relaxed and in a natural state of simplicity. Richard avedon's photos capture the same thing. Simple, full of perspective yet a complex view on the model and a sense of mystery. This is what this composition focuses on.
